SIGHPC travel grants for undergraduate and early graduate students

SIGHPC offers travel grants to help undergraduate and graduate students attend the annual SC conference.

  • Who's eligible: Students at the undergraduate or early graduate level, enrolled in an accredited university in any country, and who are members of SIGHPC. Applicants do not have to be making a presentation at SC, but they need to describe why they will benefit from attending the conference.
  • How many: Up to 6 travel scholarships will be made for attending SC19 (Denver, November 17-22, 2019)
  • What's included: Expenses are reimbursed for up to
    • $600 for recipients from North American universities
    • $1200 for travel from another continent

SIGHPC encourages the student’s institution to match the grant and to recognize the student's achievement locally within their department. This is not a requirement of the award.

Applications are due September 3rd of each year, with notification provided by September 22nd. To apply, you must provide the following:

  • simple budget (including conference registration fee)
  • statement of why you wish to attend SC and what you hope to gain by doing so
  • letter of support from your advisor referencing any institutional support or recognition that will be provided
  • Complete the application here

In order to be considered for a grant, the application must be complete and the letter of support submitted on or before September 3rd.

ACM-W/SIGHPC travel scholarships for women students

SIGHPC has teamed with ACM's Women in Computing division to help undergraduate and graduate women students attend the annual SC conference.

  • Who's eligible: Graduate or undergraduate women enrolled in an accredited university, in any country, who are student members of ACM. Although not required, preference is given to students co-authoring a paper or poster.
  • How many: Up to 3 travel scholarships will be made for attending SC19 (Dallas November 17-22, 2019)
  • What's included: Expenses are reimbursed for up to
    • $600 for recipients from North American universities
    • $1200 for travel from another continent

In addition to funding travel expenses, awardees will receive complimentary conference registration and will be assigned a mentor.

PASC19 student travel grants

SIGHPC is generously sponsoring travel grants for four undergraduate or graduate students to attend PASC19. Two applicants traveling from within Europe and two applicants traveling from another continent will be selected. The students traveling from within Europe will be awarded a maximum grant of $600, and a maximum allowance of $1200 will be given to the selected students traveling from other continents. Moreover, PASC19 will cover the corresponding registration fee for the selected students.

SIGHPC and PASC19 encourage students to submit their work to PASC19; however, this is not a requirement of the award.

Applications are due by February 24, 2019, with notification provided by March 11, 2019.

To apply, you must provide the following:

  • personal information

  • statement of why you wish to attend PASC19 and what benefits you can gain from participating
  • letter of support from your advisor or head of department (referencing any institutional support or recognition that will be provided)

Selected students will be assigned a mentor for PASC19 who will help them get the most out of the conference by suggesting relevant program sessions and introducing them to experts in their research field.
